According to the most recent research in population genetics, genes mirror the geography of Europe. Modern-day European subpopulations correspond roughly to country and linguistic boundaries.
This test makes a search for high Random Match Probabilities in the ENFSI database, which embraces 22 member countries of the European Union (including northern and southern regions of certain countries). An additional search is made in atDNA 3.0 to cover Greece, Hungary, Macedonia, Serbia, Belarus, Russia, and Romania, as well as Ashkenazi and Sephardic Jewish and Romani/Gypsy populations. (Data are lacking on other countries in Europe.)
If you want to analyze only your European ancestry and find out what countries in Europe your ancestors in all likelihood came from, this is the right test for you. It is a smart choice for those whose ancestry is exclusively European or who are not interested in ancestry from other continents such as the Americas or Africa.
As with our other tests, you receive a cheek swab kit and send your sample back to our lab in the prepaid business reply envelope provided. Ten of your 16 CODIS markers are compared (the maximum number). You receive a certificate listing your top ten countries of ancestral origin, along with a summary of your principal European lines.
